For those of you who might be interested, I just published a new article on suicide assessment and interventions in the Journal of Health Service Psychology. The article title is, “Conversations about suicide: Strategies for detecting and assessing suicide risk.” The article is designed to help practitioners who work or may find themselves working with suicidal clients.

Thank you for sharing this very practical and realistic article on how to approach clients with suicidal ideation. My daughter continues to struggle with anxiety and depression, and while she has denied current suicidality to her parents and helping professionals, she has done so before while simultaneously expressing being “extremely suicidal” to her friends on social media. She is still showing extreme irritability as a symptom of her depression and it has been particularly difficult for her parents and teachers to deal with. The specific strategies that you recommended for approaching irritability will be especially useful for us to keep in mind. I plan to share this article with Lucy’s teachers and clinicians.

Is there a way to get this article as a PDF? I used it for the students in my Counseling Skills course last year, but this year the link posted to the article says “Not Found.” I’d love to use this article again: Conversations about suicide: Strategies for detecting and assessing suicide risk.
